Sept. 25 - 27, 2015

Increase your shorebird identification skills! Audubon Louisiana, with support from the Louisiana Ornithological Society, will host a weekend-long shorebird identification workshop in southwestern Louisiana. Through a combination of classroom and field-based training based at the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, we'll provide expert training to increase your knowledge of sandpiper, plover, and tern identification and ecology.

There is a $25 fee to attend, which will cover two nights of lodging*, meals, and transportation from the refuge to local shorebird watching sites.

Participants will arrive between 6 and 7 pm Friday (Sept. 25) for dinner, introductions, and an overview of the weekend. The workshop will end by 3 pm on Sunday (Sept. 27).

Participants must be at least 16, but if under age 18, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants should have the ability to walk unassisted for at least a mile, be prepared for a variety of weather conditions, and should bring the following:

- Hiking boots

- Binoculars and/or spotting scope (if possible)

- Bug repellent

- Water bottle

Directions, parking, and other workshop information will be sent to participants before Sept. 14, 2015.
